Dan,

I have a laptop with Microsoft Office and MS-XP operating system.

My desktop now has Open Office.

I recently upgraded my desktop from MS-ME to XP. When I did, my MS Office programs did not carry through, from ME for some reason. I can see them (MS windows, Excel and Power Point) on "My computer", under programs, but the message says that I need a CD. That's why I installed Open Office.

I sent an email with an attachment from my laptop (microsoft XP). The attachment was saved in "my documents". However, I can't open the attachment using Open Office.

Any ideas?

thanks for your assistance.

Thanks,

You might want to save the Word document to your hard drive
first. Then try opening it with OpenOffice.org. If this does not
work, we need to know what version of MS Word it was created in.
