I would suggest that final version of Vista hasn't been out long
enough for peer reviewed papers to get published yet (I assume your
thinking of stuff like ACM, IEEE, etc...).

A Google scholar quick search didn't turn up much (apart from legal
paper on Vista & anti-trust).

One of the papers found (link below) probably provide sufficient
evidence from which to draw your own conclusions from:
http://www.spamindex.com/avcenter/reference/ATR-VistaAttackSurface.pdf
http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=1152301.1152302

It will probably be a little while till definitive papers are
researched, written, sent for publishing, peer reviewed, and
published...

Just my $.02 worth.

Huh ?? Defender doesn't stop spyware (Webroot) ; firewall is only 50%
effective (Zdnet) ; UAC can be turned off and is annoying ; SP1 (incl
security reasons) due end of 2007...
