Please, what is a PPV file? I have Windows XP Pro but I never heard of
PPV. If you mean PPS then, if that's all you want to do, get Microsoft's
free viewer - Google for "Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer" without the quotes.
OpenOffice is a fully featured but free (to download and use) "office"
suite which competes with Microsoft Office; it has equivalents of Word
(Writer/Draw), Powerpoint (Impress), Excel (Calc) and Access (Base)
