As an alumnus of the U of I 1965 (Urbana Campus), I removed your
phone number. You really do not want to advertise it on the net.
As to your question, you need to learn to use styles. Since
language is part of the formating, it is included in the paragraph
and character styles. You can create a template in which your
paragraph and character styles are all set to French. You can create
another template in which all these styles are set to English. And of
course, you can use different styles within the same document in
which some are set to English and others are set to French.
Now for the details. I recommend you download the Getting Started
Guide and the Writer Guide from
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/. Both of
these guides contain chapters of styles. If you choose, you can
download just the styles chapters from that web page. There is one in
the Getting Started Guide which contains the basics of styles. There
are two chapters on styles in the Writer Guide.
