Save yourself trouble and save all your Office 2007 files as
DOCs and their Office XP/2003 variants. Office 2007's formats
are bloated and cannot be read by anyone who does
not have Office 2007. Even Office is now using a ODF filter
to read and write ODF documents. The filter is not the best
for saving files, but at least Office (I use 2003 only when needed)
can read them.

Have you ever seen the size difference in a large document
using Word XP/2003's Doc format and the same file saved using Open Office's
ODT format? Anywhere from 50% to 75% smaller.

Piers Anthony, a popular Sci-Fi and Fantasy writer, writes 3-4 books a
year using (first Star Office) Open Office. He commented on the file size
saving he has with Open Office. Check the savings out yourself.
