Thank you for your comments.

I removed (or tried to remove) via the Add and Remove programme.

As to amending the Registry; I would not know how to start.

I am using Windows 2000 on an Intel P4

  As for version I installed,
I purchased a disc (for £1.00) from our local pound shop.

  The disc is marked
  ROM 13816ins1
  with additional references
  SJ032003
  CDRS816D1

But I guess that my computer wont run this programme
so I will try something else.

I have now returned my computer back to a time prior to installing open
office.

Thank you for your time and trouble.

  Kevin.

One last point; I believe I did delete the "Quickstarter" at some point.

Which version of OOo (OpenOffice.org) did you install (current stable is
2.1.0) and which version of Windows are you using?

What do you mean by the terms "deleting" and "deletion"? Did you run
some form of uninstaller program or just just randomly rip out files
and/or directories that looked as if they may be suitable candidates
for removal?

Did you modify or clean the Windows registry?

Did you close the system tray "Quickstarter" icon before you "deleted"?

Can you see any reference to OOo in the "Startup" group of your programs
Start menu?

It is very unusual for OOo to cause any problems like this, so we need
as much information as possible if we are to help you resolve this.
