I also need to 'convert' the .odg or .otg file to a Word .doc or
template (for someone else to work with).
As mentioned by Dan, you cannot convert or 'save as' a drawing file as
a .doc file.

If you have created graphics in the 'draw' component then you can
export what you have created to a graphic format (eg, jpeg, etc...)
and then insert into a writer document.

Alternatively you can insert the drawing file into a writer document
as an OLE object.

I just
cannot get OpenOffice to 'convert' or 'save' to say, a Word.doc file.
You have to be using the writer component to 'save as' a .doc file.
