Thanks for your kind reply, Dave. What you suggest works fine for Text Documents and I notice that I should have been more specific with my request:
I would like the file modification date to appear in the header for spreadsheets (when printed). In the case of spreadsheets, I go Format->Page->Header->Edit ... and then a panel appears which says "Use the buttons to change the font or insert field commands such as date, time, etc." It seems to me that I can only use the buttons shown in this panel to insert field commands. The menu "Insert -> Fields" does not exist for spreadsheets (I am using openoffice 1.1.5). Maybe there is some escape sequence to insert a field ...? I tried to copy a field command from a Text Document into this panel but that does not work. I would appreciate any further suggestion. Thanks and kind regards, Thomas. -----Original Message----- From: Dave Barton [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, March 14, 2007 00:47 To: [email protected] Cc: Thomas Bohl Subject: Re: [users] file modification date in header/footer -------- Original Message -------- From: Thomas Bohl <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Wed 14 Mar 2007 04:42:07 EST > Is there a (simple) way to get the file modification date in the > header/footer of an openoffice document? > > > I have searched the web and www.openoffice.org and did not find > anything related.
