To whom it may concern:
I am just on the verge of purchasing a new Dell computer which has the new

whether you site would allow me to download thes products. If so please give me
the instructions as to where they appear on your site.
Thank you,

You cannot download Excel or any other part of Microsoft Office. You
have to buy them from a software supplier.
This list is a support group for OpenOffice.org (OOo). It has nothing
whatsoever to do with Microsoft. In fact its software, the OpenOffice
suite, competes with Microsoft Office.
Apart from technology and support for internationally recognised
standards, OpenOffice has one major advantage over Microsoft Office: it
is completely free. That is, you pay nothing. It's free to download.
It's free to use. You can use it, free, on as many computers as you
like, in any context you like - business, private, education, whatever;
you can give it to friends, colleagues, relatives etc. They can use it
under the same (absence of) conditions.
Oh, its support is also free, via this mail list or via the OOo forum at
www.oooforum.org both of which are staffed by volunteers working in our
spare time for no pay.
The OpenOffice software can read and save documents, spreadsheets etc.
in Microsoft format so that you can exchange these with those benighted
souls who persist in paying for Microsoft products.
Finally, yes, even though the web site doesn't say so, the current (2.1)
version of OpenOffice does run on Vista.
Try it. You may even like it.
