I > appreciate your help. Thanks, I assume that you got the filter dialog when you tried to open the file? Did you try to select the "OpenDocument Text" filter manually? Usually this helps. If that doesn't work you can unzip the manifest.xml stream from your oot file and change it a bit. This is something I would recommend only if the way using the filter dialog doesn't work! Here's what you have to do: (1) Make a backup copy of your file. (2) Unzip the manifest.xml (3) change the text "application/x-vnd.oasis.openoffice.text" to "application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text" (4) Put it back into the zipped file. (5) Now open the file. It should open with only minor problems due to possible changes in the file format we made after the alpha version.
