Good info... however _I_ have no problem in installing the unUbuntu'ized OOo directly into Ubuntu (Dapper and Feisty - wouldn't touch Edgy with a 10 meter pole :-); hence my reasons for asking the OP those 3 questions. You can actually have the install automatically add the links to the new OOo version via the sudo dpkg -i openoffice.org-debian-menus_2.1.5_all.deb command. But in order for it to take you'll need to first uninstall ubuntu-desktop. As you said; then the next best thing is to right click Applications|Edit Menus and add directly. That will work just fine. BTW: the ubuntu'ized version of 2.2 in Feisty has some out-of-the-box problems. You can see the bugs I've filed at: [Feisty] OpenOffice 2.2(rc3) Document Conversion Wizard crashes https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/93002 2.2(rc3) Openoffice.org Address data sources missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/93546 Added note: Feisty will go *beta* mid April... that's far from stable :-) but IMHO Feisty is well on it's way to being a very good distro. -- Please bottom post > > > On Saturday 24 March 2007 03:45:22 pm NoOp wrote: >> On 03/23/2007 09:39 AM, Paul D.
