When I properly save a document based on a template that was created using
the process of File...Templates...Save, at first, File...Properties...General
Tab indicates that the document is indeed associated with the template. But as
soon as I close the saved document and reopen it,
File...Properties...General Tab indicates that the document did not retain its
association with the
template. Therefore, when I properly edit the template on which the document is

based and when I then open a document based on that template, there is no
automatic option to update the styles from the template. And the document does
not contain the new styles that I saved in the template.
This problem occurs every time.
I'm using OOo v. 2.1 and Windows XP.
I use the proper method for saving a document based on a template; namely,
File...New...Templates and Documents.
To be clear, I am not making the mistake of creating or saving the template
using the process of File...Save As...Template.
Could I be having the problem because I save all my documents in RTF (Rich
Text Format), which is the format I wish to use?
I have searched extensively re this problem, and I've found nothing.
I know how to load styles into a document, and I know how to copy styles
into a document, but I'd still like to be able to have all of my documents
based
on a template to update automatically.
Thank you for your help.
Mary
