 - bottom of the page:
List of File Extensions
http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/file_extensions.html

May have been what you were looking at; but that is a list of developer
extentions.

The .sxc extension is a StarOffice/OpenOffice Calc extension from older
versions:
<http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Framework/Article/Filter/FilterList_OOo_2_1>
That page unfortunately doesn't list the .extension but will let you
know what can be imported and exported. For a handy file extension
reference have a look at:
http://www.fileinfo.net/ and in your case for .sxc:
http://www.fileinfo.net/list/s
 .sxc   Data    StarOffice Spreadsheet

Yes, OOo 2.2 will open that type of file with no problem. There is also
a built in Wizard to do bulk conversions from that format to the current
OOo Calc .ods format. File|Wizards|Document Converter - under the
StarOffice section check spreadsheets.
