For goodness sake!! I love Open Office! The whole project resonates with things
I stand for. However...
a.. I used a registry cleaner that mucked up my computer.
I know this is a little 'after the horse has bolted' but I will never
trust a registry cleaner... There are so many things in that windoze
registry that I'm sure go undocumented and there is alot to loose if
something goes wrong.
Did you perhaps backup your registry before you cleaned it?
b.. since then each time I go to use Open Office it requires me to go through
a registration process.
Probably because you clean out the registry entry that tells OOo your
initial choice - or something else.
Does everything else, but OOo, work fine after your experiment with a
registry cleaner?
c.. I am completely unable to uninstall Open Office so that it can be
re-installed.
What happens when you try to uninstall? Is there an error message that
appears? You don't necessarily have to uninstall in order to reinstall
- try reinstalling over the top of the current one - that should fix
any 'errors' with the registry entries...perhaps...
d.. I have "registered" with Open Office and with "netbeans" in order to
report my difficulties but have got nowhere.
What is registering with netbeans got to do with OOo? How have you
reported your difficulties - have you lodged a bug report or
something?
Little more info will assist greatly...

Vista is "dramatically more secure than any other operating system
released" Bill Gates
Huh ?? Defender doesn't stop spyware (Webroot) ; firewall is only 50%
effective (Zdnet) ; UAC can be turned off and is annoying ; SP1 (incl
security reasons) due end of 2007...
