Really? Then perhaps my spreadsheets are fooling me.
Or maybe you unticked Display Cero Values (Tools → Options… →
OpenOffice.org Calc → View → Display → Zero Values)?
There MUST be a reason why my spreadsheets shows one thing and your show
another thing, right? I tested that before writing, I really did.
Just to make sure we are talking about the sme thing, I tested these in the
Format code field:
"$"#,##0.00_);[RED]\("$"#,##0.00\)
[$$-409]#,##0.00;[RED]-[$$-409]#,##0.00
And to be even more sure, I will test it right now.
The Zero Values checkbox is ticked.
I now write 0 in A1 in a New spreadsheet.
I right click and select Format cells. The Number tab is already selected.
Since my default language is Swedish, I select English (USA) in the Language
box.
Now I copy and paste *"$"#,##0.00_);[RED]\("$"#,##0.00\)* directly into the
Format code field.
The cell now shows *$0.00*.
Now I do the same procedure once again, but this time with the *
[$$-409]#,##0.00;[RED]-[$$-409]#,##0.00*.
The cell now shows *$0.00*. The only difference was that the value was moved
slightly to the right, maybe 1 or 2 pixels on my screen.
I will now try with *[$$-409]#,##0.00;[RED]-[$$-409]#,##0.00;@*. I will copy
it from here and paste it directly in the format code field, just like in
the other examples.
The cell now shows nothing.
I now enter *1* in the cell.
The cell now shows *$1.00*.
This is exactly the same thing as the format code *
[>0][$$-409]#,##0.00;[<0][RED]-[$$-409]#,##0.00;@*, which by the way does
not work in Excel.
