Are these words considered to misspelled in New Zealand? For
example, does it indicate that the word "color" is correct
while "colour" is misspelled? Have you downloaded any dictionaries
using OpenOffice.org (File > Wizards > Install new dictionaries )? If
you have not, that may be your problem. The English dictionaries for
New Zealand and Australia are not included in the OOo download.
(These are two distinct dictionaries.) Download the dictionary you
need if you have not already.
Then it is time to tell OOo what language you want it to use. If
you are using windows, close the Quickstarter in the system tray. It
is an icon with three frying birds on a blue and gray background.
Then use Tools > Options > Languages Settings > Languages to set your
default language to English(New Zealand). Click OK. Then close OOo.
When you restart OOo, the spell checker should work as you want it to
do.
