select precisely the text I want -- without [new paragraph] at the end

Is this the planned behavior, or is there some setting, option or
customization that can eliminate it or work around it?
IMHO it isn't the planned behavior when you're inserting your AutoText
in 'My Autotext'. But in 'Standard' it seems to be the default and it
possibly (I don't know) could be a result (I didn't try it).
Example: Where autotext is "characterized by the fact that", for which
the shortcut is "char": typing "char[F3] the plaintiff is the sovereign"
results in the following:
"characterized by the fact that[cr/lf]
the plaintiff is the sovereign"
where what is desired is:
"characterized by the fact that the plaintiff is the sovereign"
I tried to reproduce (with OOo 2.2, WinXP) this
"characterized by the fact that[cr/lf]
the plaintiff is the sovereign"
(trying aligned left/right/centered/justified) -
I couldn't. I always got
"characterized by the fact that the plaintiff is the sovereign"
My steps:
- writing some text and 'characterized by the fact that '
(with a space behind)
- selecting/highlighting 'characterized by the fact that '
- <ctrl> + <F3>
- Selecting 'My AutoText'; typing <Name> and <Shortcut>
- 'AutoText' -> 'New' -> 'Close'.
I never had problems like you've described.
Were you doing it in a similar way?
May be a conflict with settings/options in AutoCorrect?
I don't know your OS and your version of OOo.
