I don't know what you downloaded. In my case (Windows XP, SP2), the name of
the file is OOo_2.2.0_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_en-US.exe and all I had to do
was to double click it to install OpenOffice.org.

Thank you for your assistance. However, I have a couple of follow-up
questions. I tried to download openoffice2.2 and after it was completed I
couldn't open it without winzip. Do I have to buy winzip or is there some
other way I may open it. Also, you indicated that "OOo will open Lotus .123
extension files and can save in Excel .xls extension file format." Where
may I find the OOo? is it part of the 2.2 version? Thanks for all your
help.

You have no need for concern. Very few developers of open source
software are prepared to pay the Microsoft tax for their digital
certificates. Since millions of Windows users have installed OOo
(OpenOffice.org) by ignoring this "M$ warning", with no ill affects, you
can confidently do the same.

OOo will open Lotus .123 extension files and can save in Excel .xls
extension file format. However, I would recommend that you maintain
those files in the OOo OpenDocument default format (International
Standard ISO/IEC 26300:2006) and only export/save copies in close
propriety format when required.

Hope this helps.
