Hi,
You need to associate you files with OpenOffice.
Find one of the files in question. Right click on that file. Click on
Open With and then Choose Program. From the list find OpenOffice,
tick the box that says 'Always use this program...' and click ok.
Repeat for files with different extensions that you would like to
open in OpenOffice.

All the documents I save in Writer will only open up as a WordPad
file. Even if I've made sure in the "save as type" box to set it as
a word processing document, after it's saved it will only open up
in WordPad. This is only an issue on one of my computers, on the
other it works fine. Any idea what is happening and what I can do
