Hi,
There are plenty of notepad-like text editors available for mac.
The one that comes installed with OS X is TextEdit and can be found
in your Applications folder.
One that is my particular favourite is called Smultron. <http://
smultron.sourceforge.net/>

Attention: To whom it may concern.
I would like to say first of the bat that I love open office and
neo office, both fantastic programs with out a hitch. I love the
things you guys are doing and think it's fantastic. Do you produce
or have an HTML editor that I can download for free or a donation?
I would like the ability to create web pages like how I can on
windows with note pad, but unfortunately you can not do that with
macs. Do you have any programs similar to note pad, so I could
produce web pages using HTML?
Thank You
Sincerely
Nadir Bhanji
Open OpenOffice.org. Use File > New to open a menu. What do you
have directly under Database in that menu? I have HTML Document. If
you have this, click it to open a new HTML document.
