I did that on one file, recopied it...a couple times, saved like you said
but my friend could not open in in MS word. I am sending you this file to
see if you can open it. If so, then it's on his computer. He does have MS
Office and word.

I've had a look at the files you sent (I'll send them back to you off
list)... What it seems you did was to simply rename the file as *.odt
as opposed to actually 'save as' MS Word format.

Both documents opened fine in OOo (even though they had .doc
extensions) and I've reasaved them as MS Office documents. They both
now open fine in MS Office.
