I recently ordered his book as well as some others on OO and am hoping
they provide some guidance on how to untangle the API. 

Using DBG_method and the other DBG calls shows huge differences between
the published API and the code base. Even the naming of things in the
API vary considerably from what is actually in the code. Why the
document writers changed the names is a mystery to me. It just adds an
arbitrary layer of confusion that could be avoided.
