I have disabled the auto update from OO2.2, but it didn't solve the
problem. If I'm offline, OO is still opening the document recovery in an
endless loop until I have connection to the internet.

The software may be checking for updates (a new feature in OOo 2.2).
You can check (and disable) this setting from the Tools > Options >
OpenOffice.org > Online Update menu selection.
