Hi Folks,
When trying to set up Open Office on a Vista Laptop, it keeps saying
that it needs elevation.
What does this mean?

In Windows Vista, local administrator accounts run as standard user
accounts by default. This means that - even if you are logged in as
a local administrator - Vista will challenge you to confirm that you
wish to grant administrative privileges (known as "elevation") each
time an application requests them. This ensures that you do not run
with administrative privileges enabled unnecessarily, and also that
the privileges are extended only to the application that requested
them, and not to other applications running at the same time.
Installing applications (such as OpenOffice) will require elevation,
so you can safely choose "Continue" when challenged.
I trust this helps.
