I didn't realise OOo used this file extension. These files appear to be in a binary format and seem to be related to the structure or contents of the gallery. I wonder why OOo registers them as a file type, because neither Windows or Linux recognises them as files to be automatically opened with OOo and using the "Open with.." option simply loads them into Writer as garbage. > However, you can open other apps, by right clicking on the file icon > and then selecting the app you wish to use. Just for information, Jane sent me one of her ".thm" files and as expected, it was the jpeg thumbnail associated with the ".crw" (Canon RaW) image. Strangely enough, Photoshop failed to recognise this file as a standard jpeg, so changing the file associations would not resolve her issue. I recommended that she either change the ".thm" extensions to ".jpg" or use the Canon editing software that came with her camera. Dave
