That is what I have been doing. And its a needlessly irritating, tiring and
time-wasting way to work, especially if you are working on a complex
drawing that has to have the right dimensions and spacings.

I am not a developer, so it is my hope that this seemingly minor (and quite
consequential) bug would be fixed sometime soon.

If OpenOffice Draw added an embedded command line interface (see qcad to
understand what I am referring to) and added a few other things (like a
greater range of units), it can be very strong competitor as a 2D CAD tool,
which is what most people need. You can even hide this away in a CAD
toolbar, so that the business types who use Draw for simple, thematic
drawings do not get confused by the default interface.
