You could try before:
Start -> Execute ->
(1) <msiexec /?>
If the result is at least 'Windows ® Installer. V 3.01.4000.1823',
there's no need for you to update.
Then have a try with:
(2) <msiexec /i C:\[path_of_unpacked_OOo_files]\openofficeorg22.msi>
