Microsoft Project is a specialized accounting program for managing large
projects.
It has never been part of Microsoft Office and no corresponding product
has been part of any other office suite, so far as I know.
So it is not surprising that nothing similar is included in
OpenOffice.org or is planned to be included. One might as well expect a
full-fledged CAD program or a full-fledged
The Google query [FOSS "microsoft project"] turned information on
supposed free projects that were supposedly similar, which is another
reason why OpenOffice.org should not move into a field already supplied
with free products. Let's concentrate on getting the core products
working perfectly.
But check out Open Workbench, GanttProject, Planner, and so forth.
