This is more a report than a help request. OpenOffice.Org 2.2.1 uses the
paragraph tag, which automatically indents and adds a blank line after a
paragraph. The trouble is that I want the indent, but not the extra space. If
I re-format the page to remove this extra spacing, then re-set up the indent, I
can control the spacing manually and the page looks great. However, when I
save and re-open it after all of that work, it is exactly the same as before I
changed anything. Also, it would be nice to be able to use the Tab key to
indent. The user doesn't need to know that a tab doesn't work in HTML and that
the editor is actually doing something other than adding a tab to have this
feature.

Although Writer is quite good at simple web pages it is not really
intended as a fully fledged HTML creator. There are such programs
available for free. Nvu (www.nvu.com) is one. Composer in the Seamonkey
suite by Mozilla is another (www.mozilla.org).
Indenting in HTML is more complicated than most people think. There is a
discussion at http://www.blooberry.com/indexdot/html/topics/indent.htm
and another at http://goer.org/HTML/intermediate/align_and_indent/ which
might be of interest to you.
