I suspect that if even half of the people on a mailing list
sent a return receipt, the person who requested them would
learn how to turn that bug off.

My pet peeve is the people who insist on using services that
allegedly can verify that a message was read by the
recipient.[Anybody who thinks that those services provide a
valuable service needs a major reality check. There are
scripts that mimic a person reading an email, and email
clients that do not register that the message has been read.]
