However I have OpenOffice and Microsoft PowerPoint View-----but
neither are working for some strange reason.
I downloaded trial software for Microsoft Professional Office (or
whatever) and the PowerPoint attachments worked perfectly.
What that means is that the association doesn't exist. Right click on
the document Select Open With or Open, and find the program that you
would like to use (either Impress or Power Point View).
