I am in need of a copy of MS Access 2003 and MS PowerPoint 2003 for a high school class for my grandson and was referred to your website. But, I don't see anything there about these programs. Can you help us?
The programs to which you refer are sold/licensed by Microsoft and should be purchased from an authorized Microsoft retailer... if you absolutely must have Microsoft products.
OpenOffice.org is an alternative office productivity suite. It offers a word processor, spreadsheet, graphics, presentation, and database program, all rolled in one, and provides the ability to save many of its files in Microsoft's formats. There is a catch that might be important to you, however. The database product, roughly equivalent to Microsoft Access, is not file-compatible with Microsoft Access and the OpenOffice.org applications are not operated exactly the same way as their Microsoft counterparts.
If your grandchild is intended to learn to use PowerPoint and/or Access, then OpenOffice.org would not be the right product for you. If, however, the purpose is to collect data for reporting, or to create presentations on subjects being taught, where the tool used is not important, OpenOffice.org may be just what you need, especially when you consider its cost... free!
