Occasionally antivirus or firewall software may interfere with downloading or installing OpenOffice. 3) You don't have to remove MS Office to install OpenOffice. You can have both on the same system, as I do on my work computer. However, when you install OpenOffice, you'll be asked if you want to make it the default application for MS Office documents. This is a personal choice and can be changed later. If you retain MS Office, you might be interested in the Sun ODF plug-in, which will enable MS Office to work with ODF files.
