I am thinking about changing from MS Office to your format. Before doing so I have a few questions:
Will I be able to take advantage of Microsoft's security like virus scans and fire walls?
Yes. And OpenOffice.org also lets you take advantage of Mac OSX's security features. And Linux's security features. And...
Will I be able to install a PDF converter?
Yes, but you don't need to. OpenOffice.org has an export to PDF feature that is better than most converters.
do I have to uninstall MS Office?
No you don't. If you want to go on using Microsoft Office as well as OpenOffice, I recommend that you do NOT click the tickboxes that allow OpenOffice.org to take over Microsoft's files. (You are asked that question during installation.)
