1.I'm trying to write a formula in a cell that based upon 3 or 4
possible situations in one cell will determine which of 2 values to
put into the cell. I have gotten it to work partially, but can't
seem to get it to work all of the time. The formula currently is:
=IF(C16="State Funds";135;0)
The determining factor is really simple, in all cases where the text
in say C16 contains State H16 = 135 otherwise H16 = 0. The
determining field could contain just State Funds which is the
majority of the time, or can also contain State Funds/Peachcare or
State Funds/Wellcare. What is the proper way in the formula to tell
calc that if the C16 contains State, and the above variations
mentioned that H16 should be 135, otherwise put 0 into that cell.
2. I am also trying to copy the contents of this worksheet and
plugging it into a template formed worksheet. I need to break the
Master down into pages of 18 rows at a time, as the templates have
preformated headers and additional formulas and the cells also have
format info that I don't want to change. If I cut and paste all of
the borders and font info gets changed so that I have to go back and
change it back.
1. The Function LEFT returns a specified number of leftmost
characters from a string. So if your substring "State" can be relied
on to be at the start of the cell contents, you need something like:
=IF(LEFT(C16;5)="State";135;0)
2. This is another job for Paste Special! If you use the normal
Paste function, the formats of cells will be carried over with their
contents - as you have discovered. The solution is to copy the data
as usual but then to use Edit | Paste Special... (or right-click |
Paste Special... or Ctrl+Shift+V) to paste the data where you need
it. In the Paste Special dialogue box, first remove the tick from
"Paste all" if necessary, and then ensure that Numbers is ticked but
Formats is *not* ticked.
I trust this helps.
