[users] shortcuts for special characters in text and spreadsheets docs

I am using openoffice. org 2.1.
   
  Using macros, I  created shortcuts for specifically Polish characters.  
However, they only work for open document text but not for open document 
spreadsheet.  How could I make the  shortcuts  work both in text and 
spreadsheet documents?
