[users] Vertical to Horizontal

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am usíng Open Ofiice Writer in Suse Linux 10.2.

I have Japanese text which is vertical from right to left.

I need to convert this to horizontal from left to right.

The menu gives me "Format - Flip", but the two funktions "Flip Vertically" 
and "Flip Horizontally" are showing unactivated. I do not know how to 
activate them.

I could not find a solution in the faq and on other places in the internet.

Could somebody kindly give me  a hint what to do?
