Hi,
As far as I know Endnote does not work with OpenOffice in the same
way as it does with Word (this only applies to the cite while you
write feature as far as I am aware). If I were you I would send them
an email complaining that they do not support your office suite
(OpenOffice).
In terms of a solution there are reference managers that will work
with OpenOffice and I believe there is a bibliography function built
in but In have never used it.
