Hi,

Could you explain exactly what happens when you try to open OpenOffice?
Does X11 open? Do you get a bouncing OpenOffice logo at all?
Are there any error messages to speak of?

I would definately recommend you get the newest version of OpenOffice (2.3 is just around the corner I believe). You might also consider running software update on your Mac as the most recent version is 10.4.10 Perhaps one of your friends has broadband and a CD burner? There is nothing to stop a Windows user downloading the Mac version for you and putting on a CD/Flash drive.

Hope this helps

I have installed OpenOffice 2.0.0 from CD according to instructions and placed it in the Applications folder
Double clicking the icon does not open OpenOffice.
I am using Mac OS X 10.4.9 and Have X11 installed.

I have been using OpenOffice previously having installed it last year until it suddenly failed to open one day.
I therefore tried reinstalling it as above but still no joy

Can anyone advise please?

Should I obtain version2.2.1 and if so is there a supplier in this country; I have tried Dragon Technology but they no longer supply. At present I cannot get Broadband so need to get the CD

Many thanks for any help.....Anna
