I've not tried it on WinXP, but that's good to know as I'll eventually
get around to dual booting into the WinXP machine and will give it a try.

Yes, I know that I can do that. I just wasn't expecting this latest dev
to overwrite 2.2.1. The previous versions did not. I reckon that this
means that M3 is pretty close to release, so I'll run it on this machine
and keep 2.2.1 on the one next to me to compare that way. I'm too lazy
to go to the trouble of doing the 'multiple instances' just now :-)
