"udpate " could now be use as an update or new think
that is in the category
of not-needed,
or over-thinking-the-plumbing,
or why-write-a-routine-that-is-ten-times-as-large-and-five-times-as-slow.
That and other reasons we do not need Open XML from MS and crew.
They even tried to say in one of their press released that OpenOffice.org
( missed spelled ) was the ONLY package that uses ODF and implied that
it was written that way.
OK lets us all stop for a few minutes of silence ( and an hour of laughter )
over this topic.

45. How often do you expect udpates for OpenOffice.org?
It should be "updates", not "udpates" as dominated on the web site.
What a wonderful word! Let's adopt it.
It might have been created by mistake, but "udpate" is just too good a
word to be lost. It sounds like a fancy euphemism for "fat-head" or
"bone-brain": "If only those udpates in Microsoft would just listen to
reason, ..."
Even better, it could be a new technical term for an update that pretends
to be an improvement, but is actually designed to subvert a standard or
break competitors' software. By that definition, Office 2007 file formats
would definitely qualify as udpates.
Alec.
