Download OpenOffice.org (OOo) and install it. It will install in its
own directory. It should also detect the settings you have in 1.0 and
apply them to 2.2.1. (At least it has detected my 1.1.4 settings and used
them.)
The file format has been changed for OOo beginning with 2.0.0. It is
similar to the file format of 1.0, but there are enough differences that
your 1.0 version will not read the new format. All version of OOo
including 2.0 and later will read and write to the 1.0 version's formats.
What I would recommend is that you install 2.2.1 or 2.3.0 if it is
available (it is coming very soon). Then as you open each file for
editing, save it in the new format.
