If you are going to keep a copy of the letter, save it to the folder you want to use for this purpose. Then use File > Save as to save it a second time in Microsoft Word format which the library computer will recognize. The only difference in this save is that you are going to change the File type. The Default File type is OpenDocmument Text (.odt). You need to change that to Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc). (It is a dropdown list.) As an additional thought, why don't you ask the library why they do not have OpenOffice.org installed on their computers. It is a free program.
