There are several different ways to accomplish what you want. The
simplest one is to use File > Save As and change the File type from
OpenDocument Text (.odt) to Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (.doc) and then save
the file.
You might also want to suggest your school install OpenOffice.org on
your computers. There are no financial costs involved. (You can download
it for free.) Neither are there any restrictions as to how many computers
it can be installed and used on. From a single download, you could burn
enough CD's to both install it on the school's computers as well as give a
copy to every student who wanted one.
