For testing I used an existing ppt that included sound. There are two distinct .wav sound files that it uses: 1 of a UH-1 helicopter, and 2 of a 21 gun salute & Tatto (TAPS). I opened the ppt in OOo Impress 2.3 (linux), played it to make sure the sound was working, and then saved as a different ppt. I then copied that ppt to a different machine (WindowsXPPro) - note I did not copy individual sound files with it - and then opened the file in MS PowerPoint 2002 on that Windows machine. The sound & slide show worked perfectly. I also saved the above as an .odp. It plays perfectly on the linux machine. That is because I have those sound files in my gallery, so the presentation knows where to find them. If I copy the .odp over to the Windows machine & play on OOo Impress 2.3 (windows) there is no sound as there are no .wav files for OOo to use. Now if I copy the sound files over to the windows machine *and* drag & drop them into the gallery, there still will be no sound as the paths to the .wav files are different than on the linux machine. So, I need to add them back in, then the .odp file plays just fine on the windows machine. I've not yet had time to figure out how to embed the sound files into the saved .odp so that it can be shared.
