I am running Windows XP pro and replaced OOo 2.1 with OOo 2.3. I noticed the
fontwork problem right off but thought I could live with it until a fix comes
along. However, I'm now experiencing a much greater problem. When I boot XP I
get about a dozen soffice.exe and soffice.BIN processes showing up in task
manager along with notification that the program cannot run in DOS mode! After
I kill all the processes I find that if I right-click on my screen to bring up
display properties, OOo pops up instead. Same thing in control panel - I try
to launch Add/Delete software but OOo 2.3 pops up instead with the customary
garbage screen of course. I have not tried manually deleting OOo 2.3 and
reinstalling because I feared I may have a registry problem and might need it.
Also, when I installed OOo 2.3, OOo 2.1 subdirectory became empty so I can't
try using it. I'd appreciate any clues you'all might have to get my system
under control again. I've enjoyed OO for a long time but never had a problem
'til now.
