1) You don't have to purchase OpenOffice from anyone. It's a free download from www.openoffice.org. Also, I didn't realize Google was selling OpenOffice, as they give away StarOffice, which is the commercial version of OpenOffice. 2) You have to save the document in Word format. When you use "Save as", select the desired file type from the drop down list and also make sure automatic file extension is selected. You can also use Email as Word document, from the File menu.
