I just did a test. I did this with the official 2.2.1 version for 
Linux and official 2.3 for Windows.

Inserted a 2 row 2 col table and placed my cursor just below and 
insert another table like the first.

Without doing anything else after the second table was created I 
pressed the Enter key and the table moved down creating the 
carriage return space.
