I really don't know what to tell you. I have installed OpenOffice many
times from the download file and never seen that problem.
Perhaps someone else on the mail list has some ideas.

Thanks for your reply. I'm using Windows XP and have never had a
problem before when downloading OO updates. I'm not very computer wise
so I would appreciate relatively simple answers if possible. I tried
to remove OO 2.2 with Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. I got the
same message that I got when trying to install OO 2.3. The message is:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removeable
disk that is not available.
Insert the OO 2.2 disk and click OK"
Since I originally downloaded OO from the website, I never had a CD of
the program.
I appreciate any help you can offer.

Does it indicate what CD? OpenOffice doesn't require a CD,
assuming you
downloaded it from www.openoffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org>.
BTW, when you ask a question, it helps to describe the problem
with some
details, such as what operating system you're running etc.
