Hi Russell,

Thanks for your reply. I'm sure that I've only installed 32bit java. I'm not
sure how to properly check but I get the following from the java command:

$ java -version
java version "1.5.0_12"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_12-b04)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_12-b04, mixed mode, sharing)

$ java -version -d64
Running a 64-bit JVM is not supported on this platform.

$ java -version -d32
java version "1.5.0_12"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_12-b04)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_12-b04, mixed mode, sharing)

Querying rpm with a query format showing architecture I get this:

$ rpm -q --qf "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE} %{ARCH}\n" j2sdk jdk
j2sdk-1.4.2_09-fcs i586
jdk-1.5.0_05-fcs i586
jdk-1.5.0_12-fcs i586

Using 'strace' on OOo I can see it selecting the various java installation paths
before it freezes.

Another observation I've made is that the OOo that's working on my laptop
(RHEL5) is from Vendor: OpenOfice.org but the one on my CentOS 4.5 box is from
Vendor: CentOS. Not sure if that's the problem...

Thanks,

Tom
